Flight & Migration – Hanna Cottrell

Coming soon to the Peacock Gallery a unique collection of prints and textiles by Hanna Cottrell.

Flight and Migration originally focused on my fascination with the fragility of bird’s wings and their simple beauty in conjunction with the similarities of traditional Origami and the intricate forms that can be made from paper. Over the eight years that this collection of work covers, the theme of birds has always remained my focus but I have tried to explore and experiment with applying my designs and drawings to different artefacts and forms.

Drawing is the important tool I have and all of my printed textiles have started life as a sketch on in my sketchbook. I then use my original drawings and manipulate them using Photoshop and scanning. I am fascinated in the way that traditional drawing techniques can be used in harmony with contemporary digital print technology.
